Rescuing horses from perilous situations

 PASTURE PALS

Horses on this page are available for adoption as companion horses only.  They cannot be ridden for a variety of reasons.  Some are older and have spent their lives in the service of their humans.  Others have medical conditions that don't allow them to be ridden.
If you can offer one of these deserving horses a home please contact FCER at debbie@fourcornersequinerescue.org

  Thank You!

Velvet

Velvet is a very gentle 24 year old mare. She is NOT rideable. FCER received Velvet from a lady who rescued her from a kill pen. She leads, loads, and stands for the farrier. If you are looking for a horse to spend quality time with safely, this is the horse for you! Velvet is up to date on vaccinations, deworming, teeth floating and hoof trims.

Adoption Fee is $250

Cindy

Cindy is a 21 year old ex-broodmare used in the PMU (pregnant mare urine) industry to collect urine which is transformed into pills for women seeking Hormone Replacement Therapy. Cindy was not treated well and retains her distrust of human intentions. With care and time she will halter, lead, load and stand for the farrier. But first her trust will have to be earned. Cindy is NOT a riding horse. The right home for her would be with an experienced horse person willing to develop a relationship with Cindy so the two can enjoy doing Groundwork Games. Cindy has much to teach the right person!

Adopotion Fee for Cindy is $250

Amber
Amber is a 21 year old mare who came to us as a stray through the New Mexico Livestock Board. Amber is well trained - leads, loads, stands for the farrier and is a real huggable type mare. She has an old injury to her right hind fetlock which renders her unrideable.  She is up to date on vaccinations, teeth floating, farrier work and deworming.

ADOPTION FEE FOR AMBER IS $250

Foxy Lady

Foxy Lady is a retired brood mare. She's a big gal, standing about 16.1 HH, and looks to be of Thoroughbred breeding. Foxy is friendly, loves to be brushed and looks forward to people interaction. She has been ridden at some point in her life, but her skill set is not well developed. Foxy does lead, load, and stand for the farrier. She is current on vaccinations, deworming, teeth floating and farrier work.

Adoption Fee for Foxy Lady is $250

Alden

Alden was part of a hoarding case, and came to FCER as a stallion. He has behavior issues related to his time at the hoarders, and will required an experienced dedicated person to develop a relationship. He also has some confirmation issues which prohibit being ridden. Alden is very smart and needs an environment that will keep his brain engaged. He is current on vaccinations and deworming.

Adoption fee for Alden is $250

Pecos

Pecos is a 15 year old mustang gelding. He came to FCER as an owner surrender. Pecos is very leery of people, although he can be haltered and does lead. Pecos has been treated very harshly in the past and does not trust people. He will need a  person willing to spend the time to gain his trust. He is good with other horses and will eat your grass just fine!

Adoption Fee for Pecos is $250

Dorado

Dorado is a 22 year old buckskin gelding, He's very gentle and good with kids. Years ago Dorado suffered a fractured hip, so he walks with a limp, but gets around fine. For that same reason he cannot be ridden. He's a nice horse, likes people, especially ones with treats! Dorado is up to date on vaccination, deworming, teeth floating and hoof trimming.

Adoption fee for Dorado is $250
