Riding Horses for Adoption

The Horses on this page are available for adoption as riding horses.

These horses are either in saddle training or have completed saddle training.

The Training Level Progress Report or Evaluation for each horse is posted in the listing.

Possible adopters are encouraged to review the videos (if available), the Progress Reports/Evaluations to help you decide if this horse is a match for you. Also please complete the Riding Experience Checklist form. This checklist will help determine what level of horse is a good match for you.

Please note - we do not haggle over the adoption fees. The fees we set are fair and modest. All funds derived from adoption fees go to help save another horse.

Drifter

Drifter is a 12 year old mustang gelding. He's a stout horse, standing about 14.2 HH. Drifter is currently in saddle training, at this point he needs more miles with a rider who can help him when he gets confused. He's very mild, and will make a wonderful trail buddy. He is up to date on vaccincations, deworming and teeth floating.

Adoption fee for Drifter is $800

Sugar

Sugar is a very nice quarter horse type 6 year old mare. She came to FCER as part of a cruelty case. She stands about 15 HH and weighs in at about 1100 pounds. Sugar is a good sized horse, but she's also gentle. She's not a finished horse, and will need an intermediate to advanced rider to progress her skill set. She leads, loads, stands for the farrier and rides pretty good.  Steady on the trail and okay with dogs.

Adoption Fee for Sugar is $700

Brady
Brady is a 15 year old red dun Quarter Horse type Gelding. He is an excellent trail horse, as he is very light and responsive. Brady is a "been there, done that" kind of horse. An intermediate rider would do well with him. He stands about 14.3 HH and is current on vaccinations, deworming, teeth floating and hoof trims.

Adoption Fee for Brady is $750

Chief

Chief is a 22 year old gelding standing about 15 HH. He is a "been there, done that" kind of guy. Chief is a very gentle horse, content to go on a ride with or without other horses along. He is well trained, and will work off your legs when being ridden. Due to an old wire injury to his right front pastern Chief has a slight reduction in range of motion for that foot, making him a "walk/trot" horse. Chief stands for the farrier, trailers, stands tied all very well. He is up to date on vaccinations, deworming and farrier work. The right home for Chief would be with a person wanting to do casual trail riding.

Adoption fee for Chief is $450

ATHENA

As regal as her name, Athena is quite a nice horse. She is a 5 year old mustang, and stands about 14.2 HH. Athena is currently in our Natural Horsemanship Saddle Training Program where she is making great progress. She is doing advanced ground work now, in preparation for saddling. The perfect adopter for Athena would be willing to work with her using Natural Horsemanship techniques. Athena leads, loads, stands for the farrier and a bonus - she likes people! She is up to date on vaccinations, deworming and farrier work.

ADOPTION FEE FOR ATHENA IS $350
