Let’s build a future for our wild horses.
San Juan Basin Mustang Sanctuary
Wild horses deserve a place in this world. Native or not, they have been a part of our landscape for hundreds of years. Humans have been taking them from their homeland and forcing them to conform to our ways or else be sent down the pipeline to an unknown fate.
At Four Corners Equine Rescue, we have taken in many wild horses. Some will adapt and enjoy human interaction, and some desire their distance. That is okay. Regardless of how they develop, they always have a safe home with us. However, our facility is not set up to give a wild horse its freedom. We have small pens designed for interaction and a limited amount of space. Our goal is to find the horses that come into our care a forever home where they can be loved by a family of their own. With more sanctuary horses coming in, we have less adoption and therefore less space to take in the horses that need our help.
So we decided to ask for your help. Let's build a sanctuary for these horses to live out their days in an environment that feels like home to them. Acreage where they can run free and be themselves without the constant worry of the human that is always within sight. These horses want three things; friends, forage, and freedom. This is a simple request that can succeed if we work together for the future of these magnificent horses.
